As spring kicks into gear, this month’s astro-energy follows suit and starts big, with a full Moon in Libra opposite the Aries Sun on April Fool’s Day. If you feel like you’re still working out some March squishiness (kind of like a mental-emotional mud season), the metaphorical ground you’re treading should start drying out soon and offering better traction.

Looking at the Full Moon chart, I see a description of heightened emotional energy layered into the usual “trick” inherent in the Aries-Libra axis: a pair of signs that ask you to balance individual needs with the give and take needed for functional, healthy interpersonal dynamics. Jupiter in Cancer, signifying big emotions (and a natural desire to take care of everyone), is at cross-purposes with the Full Moon. If your feelings are making it difficult to negotiate a stalemate or intensifying situation, it’s okay to step back for a couple days to gain perspective.

This Libra Full Moon also suggests keeping your sense of humor handy, on the off chance a holiday prank hits to close to home or sets off a chain reaction of reactions. At the same time, if you need to move a project to its next stage, you may find that even modest actions April 1 and 2 move the needle further than you anticipate.

Midmonth, when Mars and Mercury both enter Aries (April 9 and 14, respectively), you’ll likely notice increased physical and mental energy. If intentions and goals you set back in January have felt stalled or hard to solidify, you may finally be able to light that proverbial fire under your butt. Just beware following so many impulses that you neglect closing the loop on your highest priorities.

On April 19 the Sun enters Taurus, settling into the heart of the season. It joins Venus, which slid into this first of her two “home signs” on March 30 (Venus also rules Libra). Venus plus the Sun in Taurus will help to steady and ground all the impulsive, high-octane, lusty fire.

Speaking of “lusty”: with Mars (desire and action) in its own initiative-taking sign of Aries, and Venus (love and beauty) in its own earthy, sensuous sign of Venus, the second half of April could feel decidedly passionate. Whether you’re coupled with anyone or not, this could be fun energy to explore behind closed doors. I could also see this combination of energies manifesting simply as having the patient persistence (the Taurus influence) to finish what you impulsively start (the Aries influence).

April 17 we have the Aries New Moon, late in the sign and accompanied by several additional Aries planets. Most notably it will be conjunct Chiron and Eris — which just completed their own rare conjunction in this sign — suggesting the ability to draw a particular cycle of healing that recently closed into greater integration. How can you begin writing a new story of “I am” that’s more inclusive of all your parts?

All of this said, the biggest event of the month occurs April 25, when Uranus leaves Taurus for good and enters Gemini. Uranus here powers up the mental plane, describing something of an “everything, everywhere, all at once” sensation — or the impulse to keep changing your mind.

Since roughly 2018 Uranus has been jolting Taurus, insisting we reinvent what had seemed set in stone in whatever area of our individual lives is ruled by this most solid and dependable of the signs. Most likely routines, values, bodies, natural spaces, financial stability, or even your sense of what counts as “yours” has been upended along the way.

You’ve had to adapt — whether with deep grief, begrudgingly, or in an epiphany of creative excitement. We’ve witnessed the shocks of Uranus collectively in a variety of world events during these years as well, particularly those involving monetary systems, natural environments, and our shared cultural understandings of what it means to live in a physical body.

Last year, from early July to early November, Uranus gave us a taste of what its electrical current feels like coursing through Gemini. However, during those months, its disruptive charge was activating Neptune’s dreams and being given form by Saturn’s boundaries. Personally, it felt like I was able to access surprisingly functional structures for my visions of what might be possible in my life. I had not expected that when I first considered what Uranus in Gemini might feel like, given where Gemini is in my birth chart.

This time around, when Uranus enters Gemini, its contact with Neptune and especially Saturn is less precise, which may translate into feeling a little less clear about how to channel the power surge into constructive actions. The “twin” nature of Gemini suggests that support systems such as an accountability buddy, “body doubling” with someone (live or online) when you need to focus, or any other peer-to-peer arrangement could be especially helpful.

You may also want to look back at last summer’s journal and calendar entries, experiments, bold new steps, and supportive containers to see which of these you’d like to proactively return to, replicate, or begin advancing in preparation for Uranus’s big move.

What got lit up? What did you learn? And what process of reinvention in yourself have you been asked to finish solidifying between last November and now, so that you can move with quick agility and relaxed confidence if your world picks up the pace, presents unexpected options, or generally starts buzzing at a new frequency soon?

Uranus will be in Gemini for about seven years, so you’ll have plenty of time to get used to it. I hope that with a little reflection and preparation to meet Uranus this month (and even without it), you’ll find its associated surprises to be inspiring, enlivening, and exactly what you needed to continue evolving along your unique path.

With love,

Amanda
