An ode to summer’s final waning days: the last of the perfectly ripe wild blackberries!

Shiny and full, sweet and dark, they only release their hold from the stem when the moment is just right and they are finally completely ripe. Try to force them to be picked even a day too soon, and you’re “rewarded” only with a mouthful of tart, seedy disappointment. But put off trying to enjoy them, and the birds (or your neighbors) get to savor them… or they fall to the ground, hopefully seeding the fruits of next summer, another twelve months off in the cycle…

Although I did not preview last night’s New Moon in Virgo, I am feeling its energy all around: the drawing close of August’s last long days, and now the final three weeks of “official” summer. (The Moon is still in Virgo today.) It’s become more obvious that the days and nights are of increasingly similar length as we bear down on the equinox.

The Virgo Moon and Sun ask us:

What is ready to be harvested?

Are you taking stock of all that you have grown this summer?

What final details of the season need your attention to be ready for fall?

What has been completed in the last month, and what must be organized, analyzed, and begun in earnest this month?

Most notably, this is the final New Moon before we reach the next pair of eclipses! The first of the pair is a lunar eclipse with the Pisces Full Moon on Sept. 17, just days before the equinox.

Among other things, this timing underscores Virgo’s imperative to harvest, take stock, shore up your storehouses (however literally or figuratively you feel called to take that), get organized, and refocus on the practical details that will put you in position to use the coming eclipses to your benefit, and for the highest good.

If for you that includes putting your spiritual/energetic/emotional house in order with an astrology session or some soul work as we approach the eclipses and transition into “official” fall, let me know. I’d love to be of service.

With love and gratitude for the abundance of blackberries and all else that is ripe for harvest,

Amanda
